Have you ever heard of Bitchin’ sauce? It is the yummiest best sauce that exists and it just happens to be vegan. My first introduction to Bitchin’ sauce was from a copycat recipe one of my besties shared with me 3 years ago. I made it and my hubby and I fell in love with it. We basically make it once a month at this point. We love it as a dip for vegetables and tortilla chips; as a condiment for your sandwich, wrap, or burger; and as a sauce over your fave rice bowl (Mexican, Greek, Mediterranean). I finally got my hands on the real thing (as it is sold in most west coast groceries now) and I hated it! You just can’t beat homemade plus its so incredibly easy to make. So please give this recipe a try. It’s amazing and delicious. I promise you just won’t get enough.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup grapeseed oil (or similar neutral oil)
- 3/4 cup raw almonds or cashews or both (I do about 1/2 of each)
- 1/3 lemon juice, fresh
- 3 Tbsp Nutritional Yeast
- 1/2 of a 7oz canned Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce (or more if you like things crazy spicy)
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander
- 1/2 tsp paprika
Directions:
- For optimal texture, soak the almonds in the water overnight.
- Combine all ingredients in a high powered blender or food processor and blend for 1-2 minutes until combined and texture is smooth and creamy. Enjoy!
