We felt like having some burgers tonight and so what goes better with burgers than french fries? Nothing. So I made some baked french fries. I have made or at least attempted to make some good homemade fries many times, but I feel like this was the first batch I truly successfully succeeded at making them correctly. In the past I had cut the potatoes too thin and so once they were done baking they were too flimsy and unable to stay firm enough for proper ketchup dipping. Therefore, my reccomendation is to make sure you cut the potatoes into thicker slices.
Ingredients:
4-6 potatoes, sliced lengthwise (sliced full length of potato, about 1/2 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick)
2 tbsp olive oil, divided
garlic salt and pepper to taste (feel free to add your favorite seasoning)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Pour about 1 tbsp of olive oil in an 18″ x 13″ x 1″ cookie/jelly pan and spread around to fully coat/grease the pan.
- Place the sliced potatoes flat in the pan, making sure to line them up and not layer them. Sprinkle with garlic salt and pepper and about 1 tsp of olive oil, flip and repeat, making sure that each slice is coated in olive oil and seasoning.
- Place the pan in the oven and bake for 25 minutes. Remove pan and flip potatoes carefully with a spatula or plastic tongs. Then continue baking for another 25 minutes. Remove pan and flip potatoes again. Turn the oven on broil and bake for another 10-15 minutes (flipping potatoes in the middle of baking time) until potatoes reach the proper crispyness that you desire. Serve with any meal, enjoy!
