This is a family favorite of mine. My mother use to make it for us growing up and I believe her mother used to make it for her and her family. I love cabbage and it is probably from my German and Czechoslovakian roots that I like it so much. This is a quick and easy meal that has so many flavors and turns out so tasty. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Ingredients:
3 tbsp butter
1 head of cabbage, chopped
1 large onion, chopped
1 tbsp minced garlic
2 cups cremini mushrooms, chopped (optional)
garlic salt and pepper to taste
2 cups egg noodles, cooked
1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
sour cream for topping
2 Italian sausage links, cooked and sliced (optional)

Directions:

  1. Warm up the butter in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the cabbage, onions, and garlic and cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Lower heat if cabbage begins to brown. Our goal is to get these ingredients to get highly cooked without burning.
  2. Add mushrooms and salt and pepper. Combine ingredients well in skillet so that all ingredients share their flavors. Cook mushrooms and cabbage for another 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Once ingredients become transparent and fully cooked then they are done.
  3. Serve egg noodles with cabbage mixture spooned over top, sprinkles with Parmesan. Served alongside sausage and sour cream. Enjoy!
