I made some homemade brownies the other night. They were delicious but not as fudgy as I had hoped they would be.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter and unsweetened chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat to cool.
  3. Meanwhile, grease an 8×8 or a 9×9 baking pan; set aside.
  4. Stir sugar into chocolate mixture in saucepan. Add the eggs, 1 at a time, beating with a wooden spoon just until combined. Stir in vanilla.
  5. In a small mixing bowl stir together the flour and baking soda. Add flour mixture to chocolate mixture; stir just until combined. If desired, stir in nuts. Spread the batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake in oven, allowing 30 minutes for an 8-inch pan or 25 minutes for a 9-inch pan. Cool on a wire rack. Enjoy!
